February Beach Cleanup at the JB Pier
February 23rd, 2008 Posted in Beach CleanupsFirst Coast Surfrider typically suspends beach cleanups during the winter season, but due to unusually warm weather we felt it was important that we get back to the beach! The year’s first beach cleanup, held in conjunction with Sisters of Sea, took place at the Jacksonville Beach Pier on February 23rd from 9am-11am.
Upon arrival there were a few strips of rain passing through the area, but bad weather didn’t stop the volunteers from coming out! By 9:30am, the sun broke through and it turned into a beautiful day.
Feb 2008 Beach Cleanup Stats:
Total Volunteers: 14
Total volunteer time: 15 hours and 20 minutes
Total Pounds of Trash Collected: Approximately 175lbs

Thank you to everyone that came out! If you missed it, but would like to volunteer at future cleanups, check the First Coast Surfrider calendar for details about the next beach cleanup date, time and location.
